And down came the wall....

All of the rain and humidity have made it hard to paint or stain so it was time to take the wall down! I must say though, it did provide hours of entertainment for the boys and their friends (and yes, the adults too!)

Do you think they are having fun?

Update on the machete contest: Well, it never happened. It was decided that it would be easier to simply pull the weeds by the roots and that no machete was necessary. Guess the skill needed for wielding a machete will have to be determined at some other time.

Evictions are never pleasant...

especially when it involves wildlife! There were a number of birds that had created nests in our cedar siding. Since they were destroying the siding we had no choice but to remove them. Obviously, they were not happy. Juber got bit by one and was bombarded with excessive swearing by the rest of the bird group! All part of a days work while fixing up the lake house....

This weekend we were reminded of just how great it is to have your own home. My roommate from freshman year at NYU came to visit with her family. A few extra air mattresses and we were good to go. We had such a wonderful time with them. Even in all the mess of our remodeling we really enjoy entertaining. These are the moments that make all of the work worth it!

As you can see from the below photo, the weeds are coming back even after multiple gallons of weed killer. This has prompted a bit of a challenge between Dad and Juber. Dad says he will go out there this weekend with the machete and take care of it. Juber responded with a bit of a condescending laugh, confident that Dad does not have the skill to wield a machete. Of course, Dad scoffed and said the machete is nothing more than a big knife and does not require any special skill. After a bit of back and forth, the challenge was set and 911 was put on speed dial. Stay tuned to see how it goes.....

Had to include a picture of Patches.... isn't he sweet!
