Progress report

Thankfully, "we" can do most of the work on the house ourselves. Of course, I say "we" which those of you that know us well, know that means Juber! I feel the need to share the credit though so let me pretend.....

This was the basement bathroom when we got it.

Here it is now... not quite finished but getting there...

Look at what a good job "we" did on the bamboo floors.

new french doors, and bamboo flooring.
Still needs some finishing touches but it is
getting close. Thanks Dad for your help!

Fishing!

Well, since the weekend was so beautiful we did not get much work done....

Here is Matt and his first fish from our lake! Alex is working on catching a fish in the above picture. He has already caught several. Unfortunately, we did not have the camera there when he got them!

Views of the lake.

View of the house looking up from the lake.

View of our dock looking down from the deck.

Hope everyone enjoyed this weekend's spring like weather!!!!

Ready, set, go..... sweat equity!

Here are a few shots of the house when we purchased it. The house had been abandoned for at least 1 year although a couple of neighbors said it was more like 2! There is a lot to be done although these pics don't show just how rundown the condition actually is.....

View from the front.

View from the deck looking at the lake. Thats our dock down there.

View from the lake looking up at the house. The yard was left so long without care, you can't even see the house! Yes, those are all weeds!!!! Juber has enjoyed using the chainsaw and machete though! See future posts for a new photo of the yard.

Dining room.

Kitchen.
This picture doesn't show just how bad it is.... the nasty ripped linoleum floor, rotting cabinets and some kind of brown crud all over the walls and ceiling, yuck! We do plan to gut the kitchen but we've managed to clean it enough to make it operational for the short term.

Living Room.
Those nice shiny floors are actually some cheap laminate that is just randomly put down on top of the other floor. It is all scratched and poorly put down. We may be able to salvage enough of it to use somewhere else but this will have to be removed from the living room. Unfortunately, the hard wood underneath cannot be saved. The previous owners had several big dogs which absolutely ruined it beyond repair. The big orange wall has to go too!

Alex's room.

Matt's room.
The boys rooms were in reasonable shape. A little paint, new french doors and some flooring over that sub flooring and they will be ready to go.

Check back later. I have a lot more before photos and even some after photos.....
